Today, LXnews is one year old. Although the site officially launched in January of 2011, the first post was put up exactly one year ago. In that year, I’ve released 626 news articles and put countless hours into maintaining the site and discussing the articles in various comments threads.
So far, the posts have almost exclusively been written by myself, which did lead to some pauses in service when I could not keep up, but I have also been looking in getting other contributors aboard for a while now. While my schedule has definitely gotten even tighter over the last few months, I’m still committed to putting as many resources into this project as possible. If you want to help with that, spread the word about this site as much as possible, keep hitting the Flattr buttons and you could even use the donate link on sixgun.org to chip in and buy me a beer to make the pain of news research pass quicker. In any event, here’s to another year of LXnews with hopefully even more content and even more regular updates!

LXNews covers everything to do with the Linux kernel, Android, free and open source software, the web, digital rights and free culture. We also cover proprietary software, companies and international politics where those intersect with the aforementioned issues. We believe that software freedom is worthless without personal freedom both as a citizen and as a consumer.Open Source News
